When people take part in the process of an art piece they naturally become a part of the finite form. Thus when visiting the art piece they will stand before themselves.
The project, Blank Moon, is supported by the art residency in the coastal town of Otsuki on Shikoku Island, Japan. Through a journey in 2019 and a dialogue with the residents, the artisans and the Henro-pilgrims passing through, we achieved a humble understanding of the breathtaking place. A series of art pieces will be created through a close dialogue with the artisans and with the local community.
The book Blank Moon - Studies for a Sculpture is currently being edited for publishing in English and Japanese. The book contains our current studies on the local traditional techniques in arts and crafts. Our return to Otsuki is scheduled for August 2021.
